Mark Bloom
Self Advocate Mark Bloom has been an active member of CAU for 21 years and is a respected employee. Mark works part time for CAU in the cafeteria. Mark has solidified his advocacy skills as a 2007 graduate of the Partners in Policymaking (PIP) program through the NJ Council on Developmental Disabilities. Mark is also an independent advocate on Council 2. Mark is the 2nd vice president of Helping Hands and a member of CAU advocacy group The New American Movement for People With Disabilities. Mark attended an 8 week training on what is a mentor and is a graduate of our Sid Katz Mentorship program. Mark has met with Senators, Assembly people, Freeholders, attended advocacy conferences and trainings. Mark was actively involved in having a resolution signed by Mayor Bollllwage and the City Council of Elizabeth declaring March as Disability Awareness month for the city of Elizabeth. Mark is a strong self-advocate, a leader, mentor and an advocate for others. Mark has received the Colleen Frazier award for his work in advocacy. Mark‘s passionate is always advocating for other and teaching them how to advocate for themselves. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, his girlfriend, and friends. Mark also loves going out to eat and going on the internet doing research on anything to do with people with disabilities. |
